Thousands of locals and vacationers visit Downtown Burlington to experience their waterfront festivals. Spencer Smith Park is where most of the action takes place. Its the perfect location with large grassy lawns, lake view promenade, pier, beach, water front trail, garden, play area, splash park, historic monuments and proximity to the downtown core.
All of this combined with the extensive planning and dedication of hundreds of locals is why Burlington is home to some of Canada’s largest celebrations.
Sound of Music
The Sound of Music Festival is Canada’s largest free music festival.Visitors enjoy music and shows from multiple stages, an array food and drink, shopping, fair rides and more. The concerts span every genre of Canadian music. This year the festival will take place from Thursday June 12th – Sunday June 16th. A full line-up will be released here on May 9, 2014.
Celebrate our Canadian Heritage on July 1st from noon – 10:00 PM. There will be music and entertainment from two stages and Canadian inspired activities for the whole family. A Canadiana Viewing Area will be presented by Liaison College Oakville and the Scholars in Collars dog training show will be in attendance. A Nickel Brook licensed area is fenced off for visitors ages 19 plus.
Burlington Beer Festival
The Burlington Beer Festival is the largest outdoor celebration of craft beer in the region. Enjoy sampling and learning about craft breweries while you listen to live entertainment. This year the event will run 3 – 10 PM on Friday, July 18, and noon – 8pm on following Saturday and Sunday.
Lakeside à la Carte
Lakeside à la Carte will be on August 10, 2014, from 1 – 4pm. Wander from tent to tent tasting some of the local chefs and vintners very best flavours. There will also be a silent auction and contests for attendees.
The 2014 Children’s Festival will take place on Saturday August 16 & Sunday August 17. This years theme is Super Heroes! The theme will be used for all the entertainment and play packed into this weekend.
The Rotary Ribfest in Burlington is the biggest of it’s kind in Canada. The event gathers 18 Ribber Teams from across North America and puts them to the ultimate taste test. Guests will also enjoy performances, activities and games for all ages. You can attend Ribfest on Labour Day Weekend, August 29th – September 1st, 2014. Proceeds from this event go directly back to the community.
The Amazing Bed Race
Organized jointly by the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation & The Rotary Club of Burlington North, the Amazing Bed Race brings the community together to raise money for charity. Local teams sign up to partake in a 100 Metre race down Brant Street. The event will be from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 21st, 2014. Click here to register.
