It’s a very exciting time for Kids and their Families, some in new neighbourhoods and some in new schools. Below are options for academic, creative and athletic programs in Burlington. Creative includes Dance, Theatre and Visual Arts, while Athletics covers all types of sports and physical activities.
Extracurricular classes or activities usually begin in September and end in June, unless they have specified shorter sessions. Burlington Academic Programs
Alliance Francaise provides complete French language immersion with a blend of fun and educational activities for babies to teens and adults. Classes focus on general language skills, test preparation, culture or conversation.

Spirit of Math is Canada’s largest “after-school school” exclusively for high performing students in grades 1 to 11. Their unique drill system, curriculum, problem solving and cooperative group work provide an all-encompassing program that has produced many top Canadian math students for more than 25 years. Students attend a 1½ hour class each week, progressing through the regular school year for 39 weeks.

Sylvan Learning Burlington tutors children from JK to Grade 12. Each child completes an academic assessment used to create a custom learning plan. Burlington Creative Programs
Addison Music has programs specific for each child’s age. Toddlers Tempos is for ages 1.5 – 2.5 and is a parent and child class with music, lullabies, nursery rhymes, and creative movement with instruments and singing. These classes are in 10 week sessions of 1/2 an hour per week. Mini Musicians is for ages 3 – 8, where students learn Preparatory Music Literacy and take private music lessons in their chosen instrument. Older students can take music lessons in any instrument, with classes designed for the their specific needs and goals.

Burlington Dance Academy Preschool students can enjoy the full use of this dance school. Other children ages 3 to 4 years can enjoy Creative Movement classes that teach the fundamentals of dance. Older students can take classes in Jazz, Ballet, Tap and Lyrical.

Grace Academy is a dance studio that gives lessons in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Modern Theatre Dance, Tap and Musical Theatre. The minimum ages for Ballet is 3 years, Jazz starts and age 6, while Musical Theatre and Tap start at age 7. Grace Academy also offers acting classes for ages 9 and up.

Premier Dance Academy offers competitive and recreational classes for kids ages 2 and a half to adult. They teach a wide variety of dance, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and more. Recreational dancers come to class for a stress free hour of training. Competitive dancers train between 14-20 hours a week and get to travel across the country to dance. The studio also offers a morning program for kids in preschool. Speckles Art Studio offers after school workshops throughout the year. The Drawing Workshop is suitable for ages 7 and up. Classes are one hour long and explore new themes each week. At Cheer Force, every person that tries out for a team will be placed with the group best suited for their skills and ability. Recreational and competitive programs are open to children of all ages. Students learn jumps, cheers, dance, tumbling and stunts while they improve their flexibility and strength.

Get your cheer on with Power Cheer Toronto! Children on the Allstar Cheer Teams compete across North America, holding 80 National titles. Pre-Competitive Cheer Teams are available for all ages and all ability levels from ages 4 and up. The facility also also offers tumbling classes and private lessons that are hands-on and drill focussed. Those with no cheerleading experience are invited to try a 10 week session that teaches athletes the basics of cheerleading. A new session begins in Mid-September.

The Bay Area Athletic Club is a fitness centre with a Boxing Gym and Kickboxing Club. Their programs are designed for all fitness levels. Children are invited to participate in educational programs for Martial Arts and Kickboxing. The Youth Program is for 14-19 year olds, where classes focus on technical skill development as they progress through 9 levels of curriculum. Youth may also enter the Build Your Legacy leadership program to develop skills and their abilities as coaches.
Havencrest Riding Academy gives all ages and skill levels the chance to learn how to ride a horse. Beginner packages are 8 – 10 week sessions that run periodically throughout the year. Lessons are given once per week and are conducted in groups of 4-6 students. Students will learn how to groom and tack up their horses. The stable also offers management classes for a more hands on experience in the barn.
